Black Youth Town Hall

To support young people through recent racial tensions and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, MENTOR Nebraska hosted a youth-led Black Youth Town Hall on June 30. The presenting panel included Marqis Nunn (19), Londell Avant (17), Michaela Atkins (19), and Josie Kantaras (19), all of whom are extremely involved in the Omaha community and have a passion for achieving equality. The panelists discussed their experiences growing up as black youth in Omaha, what the BLM movement means to them, why it’s important for non-black people to understand what BLM really means, and a variety of other topics.
