Description:

This webinar will focus on strategies to ensure sustainability of your mentoring program, highlight the role of your Board of Directors and key stakeholders in the fund development process and offer ideas for developing positive relationships with corporations, foundations and other potential funders.  We will cover the gamut of resource development activities, from securing nonprofit status to managing rejection (and success). Together, we will take a look at the full range of potential funding sources for mentoring (government agencies, private foundations, special and 3rd party events, annual and individual giving, in-kind support, United Way contributions and corporate giving and matching), and walk through developing a plan for sustainability.

Our presenter, Dr. Susan Weinberger (aka "Dr. Mentor"), has been recognized for her expertise in establishing, maintaining, and evaluating school and community-based mentoring programs and school-to-work initiatives. Dr.  Weinberger’s work has been published widely and the program she designed has been replicated internationally. Through her organization, Mentor Consulting Group, she provides support, training and technical assistance to youth mentoring programs across the country and around the world. Next month, the second edition of the Handbook of Youth Mentoring will be published by Sage Publications and includes her chapter entitled "Program Funding."
