Omaha Needs More Mentors—Sign Up to Help

Our recruitment campaign is fully underway and with two weeks left in the campaign, the push for more quality mentors is still alive. Midlands Mentoring Partnership is working with eleven mentoring agencies that are ready and waiting to match you to one of the many youth in the community who want a mentor. Our goal is to gain 640 new mentors – so join us to be a part of something big!

There are over 30,000 youth living under the poverty level here in Omaha, Nebraska. Of those 30,000, only 3,000 actually have a mentor. Someone that they can rely on to listen, talk to and provide the support they need to realize their full potential.  Research shows that youth that have a quality mentor are more likely to stay in school, have fewer teen pregnancies and lower substance abuse. Being a mentor doesn’t require you to be a perfect example, you only need to be present. The minimum requirement to mentor is 4 hours a month for 12 months.
